Coordination and communication are important aspects of a new business. In the initial stage, founders of startup do not feel that they require somebody to manage routine work of their project/team. Asana– Asana is web and mobile application designed to enable teamwork without email. It was founded by Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and ex-engineer Justin Rosenstein. Asana is a web-based solution for the effective collaboration of teams. Main user focus is to plan and manage projects and tasks online without the use of email. The asana workflow: Each team gets a workspace. Workspaces contain projects and projects contain tasks. In each task, users can add notes, comments, attachments and tags. Users can follow projects and tasks and when the state of a project or task changes, followers get updates about the changes in their inboxes. In May 2013, Asana launched Organizations, which enables companies to adopt Asana at enterprise scale: from hundreds to thousands of employees. With the launch of Organizations came new capabilities including an Asana Team Browser, a unified view of a person’s My Tasks and inbox, employee auto-join and IT administration abilities related to provisioning and permissions. Asana also has a mini social network built in so that you can track the progress per task per teammate. In January 2015 Asana released its native Android app, it comes with a notification/alert system that will tell you when a teammate is trying to ping you. Podio– Podio is a freemium cloud-based collaboration service that was founded in 2009 and acquired by Citrix in 2012. SmartSheet– Smartsheet is an online project management, productivity and team collaboration software as a service application. Its online project management tool works like a familiar spreadsheet, but with additional functionality including cloud capabilities for sharing, attachments, integration with file storage services and Gantt charts. Smartsheet combines functions found in Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, and Sharepoint into a single application.
