123Digital India is one of the most important programs initiated by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It is a $1 trillion business opportunity across IT and IT enabled services, telecom, and electronics manufacturing. Digital India aims to transform the entire ecosystem of public services through the use of information technology and internet services. It is proposed to be implemented in Phases; it covers multiple Government Ministries and Departments. Each ministry and department has their own digital targets but their goals are linked and aligned with the ultimate vision of Digital India.

Outcomes of this program will affect the life of each and every citizen of India. The goal of Digital India program is to build an open, transparent and accountable administration. For Good Governance simplification of government procedures and processes is a must and technology helps to make the entire system transparent and faster. The vision of Digital India is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy and for that, our government wants to provide:

One, Digital Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen

Two, Governance and Services on Demand

And Three, Digital Empowerment of Citizens

Digital India’s primary goal is “Good Governance Through e-Governance”, Mr. Narendra Modi used to say that e-governance is easy governance and economical governance and E-governance is the only way to move from good governance to proactive pro-people good governance. One of the best examples of e-governance is the recent successful coal auction, allocation of coal mines through a transparent bidding process E-auction.
India has become the world’s fastest growing economy. According to 2016 Global Retail Development Index (GRDI), India jumped 13 positions from last year to rank second among 30 developing countries on ease of doing business, for retail investment worldwide. EODB status is crucial and our government is working aggressively toward improving the EODB status of the country.

Our center government is going to introduce a ‘One India’ concept, the biggest and the most comprehensive ‘ease of doing business’ initiative so far. Under this ‘one-form-one-portal’ model, the investors will need to fill only a single e-form for investing and doing business anywhere in India. This model will also make it easy for investors to even change plans midway and shift projects to different locations in India where it is easier to do business. During the last two years government has taken several initiatives for Ease of Doing Business, like eBiz, a single-window online portal, that delivers 14 government services, Online portals for ESIC Employees State Insurance Corporation and EPFO Employees Provident Fund Organization, Indian Trade Portal, a single point for relevant information on the non-tariff measures etc. in all these initiatives Digital Technologies are the key elements.

Digital India’s one of the main objectives is utilizing technology for the benefits of rural India. These assumptions that Digital India is only for rich and technology cannot solve the problems of rural India are not correct. The facts related to Digital India shown in the video ‘Digital India for Rural India’ will give you an idea that how technology can solve the most complex problems of rural and remote areas and how a leadership with right intention can make this happen…

Digital India program is changing the mindset of government agencies and their employees. The pace at which Digital India program is running is enormous, no other government initiatives in the past have witnessed such growth and speed. The difference between first product launch and second product launch is only 6 months…working at such pace and designing things at this scale needs a high level of commitment and determination. India is witnessing an era of transparent and good governance through E-Governance…I believe every professional should participate in this program to make this program a success.
